Such a radical reduction has been achieved due to a new design of power supplies, featuring up to 80 percent efficiency (therefore only 20 percent of energy drawn remains unused).
Difference in consumption between a common (unbranded) computer equipped with AMD Sempron 3500+ and Dell OptiPlex 330 running Dual Core E2180 comes to 130 W per hour. In other words, companies favoring Dell systems save annually up to 270 kW of energy.
